Broadmeadow Magic coach Peter McGuinness says his side is in the mood to do some damage in this weekend’s first semi final against Valentine Phoenix.
Just scraping through to the top four, Magic will be looking at putting their best foot forward in an attempt to defend last season’s title.
“We’ve had a good week at training and are going into the match full of confidence. We needed to win last week and I feel if we can produce the second half effort like we did last Sunday against South Cardiff we will cause them (Phoenix) some problems,” McGuinness said.
The Magic have been depleted this season due to various reasons and McGuiness is actually excited that he has a selection headache for the first time for in a while.
“I’m not sure if I’m going to start with Alex Pallozzi or Mason Palmeiri and I’ve got Josh Piddngton coming back in for Phil Bures. Although I love the fact that I know that I have a player which can step up in the backline at any stage like Phil (Bures) showed last week.”
The only worrying aspect for Broadmeadow is that Valentine will be playing at home in the second leg, a ground not many teams like to play on but the Phoenix have seemed to mastered it this season.
“They have a pretty good record this season at Cahill Oval so it would be good to go into it with some type of lead. As long as we can take it into a ‘one match takes all’ situation then all the pressure will be on them,” McGuiness said.
