Match of the Round
Adamstown Rosebud v Merewether United
Adamstown Rosebud will host Merewether United in the Herald Women’s Premier League Round 19 Match of the Round at Adamstown Oval on Sunday.
The first time these two sides met saw Adamstown break through their unlucky run to finally claim their first point in the history of the Herald Women’s Premier League.
The second saw Merewether narrowly defeat Adamstown with a final score of 3-2, while this weekend will see 5th and 6th place play out a repeat of the earlier rounds.
While the most recent time these two sides met was for a rescheduled Round 11 fixture which saw Adamstown take their first ever victory in the Herald Women’s Premier League and finally recorded a result that reflected their persistence on the field.
Although this is a bottom of the table clash, with Merewether in 5th place and Adamstown in 6th, both of these sides have played an impressive style of football of late, with Merewether defeating Edgeworth Eagles during their last two encounters, proving they have the ability to trouble any competition side.
Five points is all that separates the two teams, and Adamstown have one match in hand over Merewether while a victory for the home side could close that gap to just two points.
A match between two close opponents could see either side take the points and with both Adamstown and Merewether looking to dodge the wooden spoon, this match will keep spectators on the edge of their seats.
