Referee Training Sessions

Northern NSW Football holds fitness training nights every week during the season at the Hunter Sports Centre, Glendale. Training will commence this year on Tuesday 16 January 2023 and will initially run every Tuesday and Thursday night from 6.00pm to 7.00pm, excluding any public holidays, until mid-February.

Attendance numbers are considered when appointments for the Premier Senior Group are made.

For youth referees, including our first-year referees, attendance at our fitness training sessions is encouraged, but not mandatory. It is understood that many of our youth referees are players in the NNSWF Premier Youth League Competitions and are already training several nights each week with their teams.

However, our adult referees who officiate on the NNSWF Premier Senior Competitions and the Zone Football League Competitions are expected to attend training regularly during 2024, especially during the period leading up to the commencement of competitions.

The training sessions consist of both fitness work as well as skills sessions run by our fitness trainers.

Referee Coaching Nights

Northern NSW Football holds regular referee coaching nights throughout the year for its different referee coaching groups. These are held on Monday nights at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility starting at 6pm and concluding at around 7:30pm. The nights are an opportunity for referees to receive coaching and feedback, ask any questions they may have and network with their fellow match officials.

Referees intending to attend any of the above coaching sessions are required to register their attendance in advance by clicking on the registration link sent to them in advance of each session by the NNSWF Referee Department.
